LOLA tops the audience awareness charts of new shows


Law and Order: Los Angeles (or LOLA as NBC calls it) is topping viewer awareness for new falls shows, according to a report from Variety. Remakes and spin-offs often do better because their names are more established. Currently, the top 5 shows that viewers are most aware of are:

  • Law and Order: Los Angeles
  • Hawaii 5-0
  • Nikita
  • $#*! My Dad Says
  • The Event

Save for The Event, pre-established franchises dominates this list. However, it’s important to remember that NBC’s Bionic Woman also launched with high viewer awareness – look what happened there (for the uninformed, it tanked hard).

When it comes to “intent to view”, LOLA still leads, followed by NBC’s Outsourced and The Event, ABC’s No Ordinary Family and then CBS’s Mike & Molly. And when it comes to general audience awareness, taking pre-established franchises out of the equation, the top performers per network were ABC’s No Ordinary Family, CBS’s $#*! My Dad Says, NBC’s The Event and FOX’s Raising Hope. As Variety notes and as you probably saw this summer with marketing, this generally reflects the shows that received the most amount of marketing from their respective networks this summer.

Variety also touches upon social media: Interestingly, CBS’s cop drama Blue Bloods leads twitter while Hellcats and Nikita lead Facebook (both of which have already premiered).
